Aileron bellcrank stuff...

Post by captain_john »

Sorry, no pics yet, but a few notes...

Clearance holes for bolts. The AN3-7A bolts (3/16" diameter) which attach the aileron bellcranks are shown as having 3/16" clearance holes on the plans. Now, according to accepted methods of manufacture, we are told to drill a #10 clearance hole for this bolt.

Question: Why doesn't Van spec this on their plan for this (and other) detail?

Note to others when trimming brass bushings for aileron bellcranks:

Chucking the bushing in the drill press and depressing the blunt end onto a sheet of sandpaper provides a nice, perpendicular and finely machined surface which can be slowly trimmed to the PERFECT length!

Give it a whirl!

Say, another quick question:

In the plans there is no mention of lubrication on the brass bushing inside the bellcrank weldment.

I am thinking some solid Boelube wouldn't hurt a bit.

Any thoughts on that one?
