Van's Dinner at OSH

Post by Thermos »

I've been looking periodically at Vans website over the last couple of months and haven't seen an advertisement for tickets to their dinner at OSH.

Have I missed something? Have the tickets sold out already, or have they just not gone on sale yet? Or is there something else going on?

:?

They haven't made mention of them as far as I know. It usually hits their website and that hasn't happened yet. Maybe they are foregoing this year?

I don't know what the status of this year's dinner is but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they've bagged it. Van's has wanted to stop doing this for a few years now.

A couple of years ago --2008 -- we had agreed to merge their dinner with the RV BBQ in Camp Scholler (they approached me), but then things came up and I had to drop out.

I think the RV community has really changed in the last 5 or 6 years and it makes these big events less likely. The RV-10er isn't like the RV12er who isn't like the RV-9er. The bigger the "community" gets, the more it is beset by problems communities have and I think this is no different.

There are people you want to hang out with in the community and people you don't want to hang out with in the community, so I suspect these large events will be replaced by a bunch of smaller ones.

I have my reservations. Will be flying in Sunday for the whole week. Look for a candy apple red, white and black RV-7A in Home Built Camping and stop by for a cold (root) beer.
