I got T-Boned on my bike
Hey guys,
Just thought I would let everyone here know that I got T-Boned on my bike this past wednesday night. I am writing this on my iPad, as my right hand is pretty sore from having 3 dislocated fingers.
A 21 year old kid stuffed his left head light into my left saddlebag and sent me on my left side, sliding down the road for anout 40 feet.
My safety gear worked remarkably well! Virtually no road rash! I have a messed up hand, a broken rib and my left ankle and foot is aching quite a bit from the weight of the bike being on it while sliding across the asphalt. I am achy all over and feel like I got beat up.
I suspect that the bike is totaled. I am glad that I am not on tubes!
The first responders and hospital staff were top notch!
Bikes are fun but you really need to be careful out there!

Well that pretty much sucks......
Glad to hear no broken teeth. Would have been a heck of a long house call for me.
Just another example of how it's safer aviating in our homebuilt flying machines than it is driving on the streets.
Heal up quickly my friend.

Glad you are ok Dude!! I have decided to sell my bike. I used to be head long into riding but with the kid now I don't feel like having someone else take me out due to their stupidity.
Stay safe buddy!

Glad to hear you came out the other side fairly well CJ. I have a friend that got t-boned a year ago and messed up his left elbow and knee. He has had several surgeries on each and has only been back to work full time for a few months. He will never get back to his pre accident condition. It could of been much worse for both of you. I rode bikes from high school up to about 10 years ago(twenty + years) and the older I get the more dangerous they look. I went down on a highway once and was very lucky to come away with only a few stitches. Hope you have a full and quick recovery.

Glad you're gonna be OK.
I haven't ridden since my Navy Days for the same reasons.
Chicago is too dense an area to safely ride because of the other guys and shitty roads.
I rode in South Texas where you could see 10 miles in all directions most of the time and still dumped it 3 times and flipped it once.
Broke ankle, totaled bike, decided drinking was safer
Anyway, get better pal.

Anyhhoooo... than for the well wishes all!
I have doctor's appointments lined up and am recovering. Time heals all!

Ahhhh so that's what's up
Just checked in here for the first time since last week, and saw the explanation to flesh out your text.
What a huge bummer. Very glad to hear you are not in really bad shape.
Let the bike go dude. It's by far the most dangerous activity you have. People on the road just don't pay attention. Some guy was texting while driving a few weeks ago and ran into the back of my car. I don't think he even hit the brakes.
Will call you in a bit.

Thanks guys!
It got to the point where each time I put the key in the ignition I was wondering if this was the time.
Looks like my number finally came up!
I should heal up fine. I am done with bikes...
I need avionics!

I think you are making a wise move, CJ. I used to ride, too. It got to the point where I realized it was not a matter of IF, it was only a matter of WHEN it was gonna happen if I kept it up. If a cat gets 9 lives, I'm not sure how many we get, but I figured at some point I would use em' all up.
I got rear-ended a couple years ago when my son was with me, and it totaled my SUV. Smashed the car in front of me, too. I had nowhere to go and was caught in the middle. Boy, was I glad I was in a Ford Expedition and not on a bike. My rig was totaled but neither one of us had a scratch or got hurt at all. I wouldn't be here if I had been on my bike.
I think when we get these RV's finished, we'll have such big RV grins on our faces, riding will pale in comparison anyway.

HFS John, I did not hear about this!
Hope you are feeling better. I don't get on here often enough. I had a bike when I lived in Colorado but sold it when I moved to the East Coast. Just don't trust the other guy. Lately I have been thinking of getting another bike but you are the 2nd friend who has been in a bike accident in the last couple months! Maybe not.
