It was a hot one today, hitting 33°C on the ground and 29°C at 3500ft. Despite the heat, engine temperatures remained quite stable, peaking at 343°F during climb-out, and the oil temperature topped out at 186°F after 15 minutes. It’s impressive that the engine runs so cool, especially considering the baffling is the original 13-year-old Van's rubber. Slick mag timing set to 24.5 deg. It was very hazy out there today, particularly to the north where they’ve had plenty of rain.

I managed 51 easy miles on the Liberté Speedster and even managed to drop a couple of teenagers who thought they were fast! Regarding the new CurRex insoles, they provided good support, but the verdict is still out; I developed a hot spot on my right foot, though that might be because I forgot my thin aero socks and used mid-weight ankle socks instead.

Life under a heat dome. Get out and enjoy it. Good for muscle and tendons.

It was a scorcher today with a heat index of 40°C, making the shade feel like a luxury. Staying hydrated was the main rule of the day. I took the upgraded Zizzo Liberté out on the mountain bike trails, utilizing the new narrow-wide chainring and the recently replaced derailleur and hanger. The bike performed flawlessly; with the extra grip on the tires, you can really lean into those tight turns with confidence.

Despite the intensity of the heat, it was an absolute blast—once you’re moving, you barely notice the temperature. In a way, I actually enjoy the heat; I find it’s great for the muscles and tendons. You can really see the definition in the lower leg as the veins work to help cool the blood. After getting back home, I finished off the day with our usual 3-mile walk with the family, which included a race up a steep hill against Amanda. It honestly doesn't get much better than today!

The max spread on CHT's was 6 deg and #4 was not the hottest. All I did was to set the slick mags to 24.5 deg. Who knows?
