Actually John I think probably will happen. It is a plane that has totally revolutionized the GA fleet and (IMO) most importantly it has caused most of the GA manufacturers to get off of their @sses and once again start moving the industry forward.

I hear ya, CJ !!! Makes me wonder if a C-195 - in its day - was as unreachable for the Average Joe as a Cirrus is today . I really don't know the answer. Hmmmm ... I'll have to consult my historic cost-of-living tables ....

Cost of a C-195 in 2004 dollars

Post by Rupester »

If anybody is still reading ... a C-195 cost $13,750 in 1947. The cost-of-living tables say the inflation factor from 1947 to 2004 is 8.41. So that C-195 price translates to $116,500 in today's buckos. Heck ...you can't even buy a 172 for that today! And more amazing, 195's cost around $100k to $125k today. Those beauty's still command their original purchase price 60 yrs later!

Favorite aircraft...

B58 Hustler - First one that popped into my head. One mean looking
cold war machine. Could have taken Russia with three
of these things and a case of Schlitz... 8)

EMB120 Brasilia - Nothing special, just had a great time flying it.

Corsair - Just plain pretty. When I was a kid, my favorite show
was "Black Sheep Squadron," so I'll always have a soft
spot for it.

Van's RV-7 - Gee... Ya think...? :P
