Home generator for power outages. After the ice storm last winter, I'm not gonna be stuck without power. John Roberts was without power for like a week and a half or something. We got a little generator that'll run the furnace, fridge, and misc other little things. Gotta have it!

I just don't know about the AC thing...

:dunno:

CJ--I'll have my dad, the semi-pro do it for me. Don't worry Sparky!

Yes, I was, and it was a pain. I now have the generator so it is easy to hookup and even bought a pwer conditioner so I can run my office off of the generator. All that means is I will never need it again, just because I have it.

Go for the AC! It is great and the cost is not that bad if you watch and pick one up one sale. My shop is 30x36 so it took a decent sized one but it still doesn't cost much to run. Keeps things dry too.

Luke and I were planning on making it up to boone but may end up staying home and riveting on the RV. We found one empty seat (Tom Caruthers from here on RB) but we can't both fit in one seat and I really don't want to drive even though it is only a couple of hours. Just doesn't seem right for some reason. :|

Our air club is having a concert Sat night also. It is an annual thing and a fund raiser for a scholarship they give away each year. The scholarship is for training and airplane rental to obtain a PPL for one lucky young person in the community. If anyone is interested come on over.

CJ, wiring isn't a hobby? Who'd a thunk it? Image

Hi CJ - I plan to be at BNW, but I'm flying there in a C172 and the big screen might be hard to fit.... Seriously though, it's in a large roll right now but if you are going to be there I could try to fold in instead and bring it with me.... Let me know.

Be careful with that generator thing. The right way to do it is with a transfer switch, so you don't push power back out of your house when using the generator. The linemen hate that....

I don't have a generator hookup. I simply have an external power outlet. That, and a funny cord. I've lived through 2 significant power outages and in an emergency it can save you. If you go that way, turn off the main disconnect first, it isolates your house from the grid.

Hi JohnR - you're idea about staying home & riveting hits close to home. I've got my top skins hanging and ready to rivet, but I haven't yet found someone who wants to spend their day helping to rivet my wings! You're lucky to have Luke!
