chads dreamin ,it aint holding nothingcaptain_john wrote:AND the torque seal let's go? What does the torque seal "hold"?cjensen wrote:The nuts can't move unless both zip ties fail, and the torque seal lets go...

i use finger nail polish because when i was in the ARMY the Anti sabatooers (sp) laquer would dry and break off. keep in mind the heli's have high speed rotating parts. they used the nail polish as well.. the torque seal is not a holder but and indicator that the torque was lost. it aint holding squat.

too what
that would be great if you could find a way to secure it to the heim bearing , another hole perhaps.TomNativeNewYorker wrote:Why not just use a nut that has holes in it for safety wire and saftey wire the nut on with .032" wire?

I realize that...didn't mean to make it sound like I'm using it as a "hold". What I mean is, it has some "grip" of it's own...not to hold the nut in place, or keep it torque'd.weezbad wrote:the torque is not a holder but and indicator that the torque was lost. it aint holding squat.
Sorry I wasn't quite clear on what I was trying to say...

I like the nail polish idea!

I just got off the phone with Van's and all they recommend doing is putting torque seal on the nut and the bolt (which doesn't really seal anything) and do inspections every once in a while to see if the seal breaks. That tells you if you have a loose connection. They didn't say anything about additional wiring or anything else. Go figure...

Ian, great looking weld. What are yo uusing for equipment?
Luke has plans for a Pitts Model 12 he bought last summer. He has some of the tubing at school with him and is planning on using the nice shop he has there to make all the small parts.
What model are you building?

I have a synchrowave 200. I'd like to add a water cooled torch to it in the near future.
My buddy Dan and I are going to build a pair of S2C's. He's a phenomenal welder and has been helping me learn. He taught me the trick of using safety wire as filler, which is what I used in that weld (0.032" stainless). It's convenient cause I always have safety wire around
