Ok, we got some new changes here...

A fuzzy picture of my wings in the jig and the dog equally as fuzzy...

Image

...and the same dog less fuzzy with the wings in a cradle!

Image

He LOVES his summer "do" BTW!

I am essentially at QB wing status now!!! I have nailed on the aileron hinges, gap seals and flap braces...

Image

I have been working all day, yesterday and today on it!!!

Image

I am thrilled!!!

Now to install the flaps and ails!!!

Nice goin' CJ!

What did you use for anti-chaf for the conduit? Can't tell if they are rubber grommets or sealant maybe?

That is proseal. It was actually good to smell it again. I think I will mix up a pot from time to time just to keep the place smellin' like an airplane factory!

The conduit is ENT (Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing) a.k.a. Smurf Tube!

I have more if anyone wants it! Lemme know! Free, just pay for shipping!

It is larger than the stuff Van sells and MUCH more durable!

I bought some 3/4 OD nylon tubing from Menards that should work great. I never thought of using sealant...good idea!

Looking good CJ! :good job: :yay:

I am not getting much done on the plane this week. Trying to get a head on work so I won't be so far behind when I get home after Osh.

I'm planning on just using the conduit I got from Van's. Guess I wasn't sure what else to use so stuck with their recommendation on that.

I'm guessing with you staying home and not going to OSh you'll gain a week of build time on all the rest of us.

I probably should have stayed home and worked o nthe plane but it is only a little over 300 miles and I am looking forward to spending a week goofing off.

CJ,

The wings sure are shaping up nicely... I hardly recognize Wyatt with the short hair now... but I bet he does feel much cooler.

Sorry I missed your call today, but I was hanging the Vetterman exhaust on the RV-4 and was right in the middle of it all.

I can't claim any new progress on my 8 right now, since most of the week has been getting the 4 prepped for the trip.

Chip Diggins is stopping by the house tomorrow (mid day) to pick up some luggage and see the 8. Let me know if you'll be around on Friday to get together for a little while.

I'm spending the rest of the morning on Friday at the hangar finishing off the exhaust install and to have the IA take a look at it. Then I'll head back to the house to meet Chip.

I'm hoping to depart for OSH on Sat or Sunday the latest, Friday's weather will be IFR most likely.

Thought I would attempt to post the pic I took when I noticed I didn't have enough hinge pin

This is basically where I am at. Just got a note from Vans stating my wings will ship on 8/14/06. Ye-Haw!!!

Virago?? You needs them eyes checked before you fly again. Looks like an old Honda to me with a windjammer on it.

First, the shirt is from a Great America rollercoaster ride. The biggest one there (but great for the shock value).

Second, good guesses to you both, but the bike is a 1980 Yamaha XS1100 Special I recently restored. found it in a barn in Fon Du Lac with only 24K on it

Now I should check MY EYES because the weed wacker still looks red to me!

Will - Agreed! That's a fine assortment of shovels! One for the deck (plastic one) and his and hers for the drivway!

I think I'll get my wife her very own shovel this year too! :stone:

Anyways, Will...

It looks like you are in the home stretch of the tailfeathers. When are the wings scheduled to arrive?
