I'm still here, I'm still here.

I built some doors. I'm trying to figger out how to buy a motor right now. I'm also getting ready to spray a clear coat on the fuse. Any suggestions on spray settings for a Harbor Frieght HVLP gun? It's the purple one. :)

I spent the last month trying to build these doors and work, church, camping, and sickness kept getting in the way.

Here's my invisible doors:

Aft door handle:

And the forward door handle:

The door handles operate by rotating them so that the long end of the handle latches behind the door frame. Many folks paint the lower plexiglass panel so they look like real doors. I'm not sold on that yet, I kind of like the full window effect. If my wife gets too scared in it I may just paint them to make her feel better. :)

Oh and my RV-4 sold again. Owner number 2 seems to really be enjoying her. He's going to remove the climb prop and put a cruise prop on. He emails me weekly with updates. He's promised to fly up next summer (hopefully) and let me see her, maybe take her around the patch again a time or two.

The full window doors are only scary the first time you go up. After that the view is amazing.

:o oh yeah they are real scary in heavy turb, when you think the ship is getting ripped in half. not very fun looking at the rocks in Provo canyon seeing where you're gonna die :o

Two Ideas about painting the glass.

1. Just aft of the door, it appears you have a wide red accent stripe. why not extend the strip across the glass as well?

2. How about some sort of outline accent that you could paint that follows the tubing support, say maybe an inch or two. Maybe a wide stripe of one of your colors and some pinstriping of the other color on top.

That's what a lot of people do. It actually looks quite nice when done right. Many people extend the stripes across the plexiglass doors right onto the cowling. They even paint the dacron in that area to hide the stitching. This is what my dealer suggested. I'm still thinking about it. I did put a couple of scratches in the plexi that I'd like to hide. Hmmmm....

And the engine is hung. Two friends came over and picked it up and set it on the mount while I turned the bolts in. Worked out great.

I don't know about that. This is definitely not a Lycoming. Way more hoses and doo-hickeys on this thing.

Yeah, but they are quiet and smooth in all the planes I have seen them in. You're really moving forward Scott.

looking good Scott.

Do yourself a favor and cut some cardboard to protect that radiator, both sides.....the fins will get smashed just looking at them wrong.

Quick update. Been working on the panel. Got it mostly done. Just need to hook up the wires.

Here's a sort of close up of my cheapie LRI. Made it for $100.

I've also got the prop mounted and spinner installed.

That's about it for now.
