Kind of bummed out today. An acquaintance of mine, not really a friend, but a heck of a nice guy was killed yesterday in a plane crash involving an LSA. He was checking out a friend of his, getting him current to fly again after a long break from flying. Dave will certainly be missed.
Here is an article on the crash from my employer:

So sorry, Scott.
I nearly gave up flying when a couple of friends of mine died.
I know they would have wanted me to keep on flying, so I did.
My condolences.

Sorry to here about the accident. I'm not really sure why the last couple of accidents I have heard about ended in fatalities. The fella who ended up short at Van's home strip stalled into an orchard just short of the strip. I assume trying to "stretch the glide". I guess it's easy to second guess until you are the PIC when the motor konks.
Give my sympathies to the family.

It has to be a hard experience to go through something like this. Let us know if we can be of any assistance.

Dave was my flight instructor; he flew with me to brush up on pre-checkride stuff 2 hours before he crashed. He was an exceedingly patient and kind man, and I'm fortunate to have learned what I could from him. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Thanks. It's events like this that really bring the community together and creat solidarity between guys who were just arguing about full stall landings vs. 3-point landings in tailwheel planes. It's like a big family. We can argue and fight among ourselves but when the chips are down we all pull together. Thanks guys.

Stay safe.
Dr. Agbunag, we're having our morning EAA Chapter 90 breakfast and meeting tomorrow. I hope you can make it. We'd love to have you. I'm sure kind words will be said about Dave tomorrow.
