I bet none of you can even remember what a VS705 looked like it was so long ago!
Well, I may be getting a tad absent-minded, but I can still remember the last couple of weeks! Just finished the VS last week - see pic -, and am making rudder parts now.
CJ, the wings are complete except for attaching the ailerons and flaps. The tanks seem to have worked out quite well, with all the plumbing and leak testing done, but I won't actually KNOW they will work until I test fly the airplane.
Bill, the bulkheads in the cockpit area are painted with Sherwin Williams 'hammered finish' paint. It has been talked up on the VAF forum, and so far it has worked out very well for me. The other multi-piece bulkheads are primed with rattle-can zinc chromate. The one-piece bulkhead will be primed later.

On the 8, at least part of all the bulkheads finished with the hammered finish paint show on the inside of the cockpit. Some part of these bulkheads is hidden as well, but it was just easier to paint the whole bulkhead at once, rather than paint different parts of it with different paint systems.
As far as the tanks, with the wings done, there isn't really anything to take pictures of, other than TWO DEE-LUX caps per wing ($ouch$).

Description
These fuel caps are being produced in England for a variety of homebuilt planes. They can fairly easily be adapted for use in Van's Aircraft fuel tanks. They consist of the cap, flange for tank mounting, and key set if a locking version.
These caps will NOT fit the standard fuel tank flanges supplied in Van's kits so they are really only suitable for use if you are building new tanks.
A fuel cap w/flange is sold as a single item. 2 fuel caps are required per airplane.

Van will give you a credit when you do the upgrade, so they will only be about a $100 upgrade. It was probably the slickest upgrade I have done yet! The action is sooooo smooth! They are really nice! Every day you fly your plane, you will fill your tanks. You will use these every day!

I am not sure I can fly with you now!
j/k...
Pat, show us one completed wing! I am sure it must look really cool with two filler necks in the leading edges!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah...but they ARE just fuel caps. My standard caps look pretty good compared to some I've seen. CJ, your's look like they've been sitting in the mud compared to the deluxe! I'll use a nylon "pry bar" to open mine so as not to scratch paint. They open easily like this, but getting a finger under the tab won't happen.
