2 week trip to Tennesee and Virginia

I'm packing up the family and we're flying out (commercial, ugh) on Friday for Nashville. The following Monday we're going to drive towards Lexington, then we'll follow the highway on into Virginia. We'll pass through Richmond and Norfolk and then head up to Washington DC. Then we'll shoot back towards TN, maybe Chattanooga.

Any RivetBangers in those areas? Any must see sights? I know I've asked before but my memory is poor and I'm lazy. :) Besides, there might be some better suggestions.

See y'all in TN!

In Washington you should definitely take in the National Air & Space Museums -- both the one on the mall in downtown Washington, and the Udvar Hazey center at Dulles Airport.

Hit as many of the Smithsonian museums as you can.

I also highly recommend Arlington National Cemetery. Not only is it incredibly historic and moving, but it has fantastic views of the city.

Enjoy. I grew up just outside DC in VA, and it is one of my favorite cities.

If you can confirm some dates Id be more than happy to spend a day going through the new Dulles museum again. We could get a group. Any takers?

We'll be in DC (Fairfax actually) for two days. I'm bushed today but tomorrow I'll regroup and confirm dates.
