Here are some pics from our summer opener fly in at Holland International. If you saw the pics from last year, these are very similar, but we did have 33 airplanes (and one rotor wing bird

) with 29 on the ground at one time. It was a picture perfect day, but a little breezy with winds 18-22kts 20 degrees off the runway.
Here is the most unique visitor we had all day-
Here is an RV-7A that came all the way from Griffin, GA! These guys are the guys that built Jack's engine from Don's Dream Machines. I did get to fly it late in the afternoon just before the storms rolled in. It had one of the SMOOTHEST engines I have every flown behind--Superior XP-360 (IO)--and gobs of power. We went to 9500 to dance with the clouds for a bit (not the storm clouds

), then it was time to head back.
I flew it with Jeff from Don's, and I may have found my engine builder!
And here's everybody's favorite resident...Razzle!!!
It was a great day, and everybody had a great time, and even better food!

Those sure are some nice pictures!
Being a Hoosier farm-boy in a different part of my life, those beutiful landscapes bring tears to my eyes.

You can really fall in love with the sky living in the mid west farm country.

Those are some cool pics!
I was nervous landing in a 10kt x-wind in the 170 at 7L8 (pretty narrow runway and a big audience). Having everyone else's airplanes lined up next to the strip could be really nerve-wracking if the winds were up!
Did you fly down there?
Keep us posted if there are more fly ins there - maybe I'll head over in the 170!

Chad, looks like a great time! I need to make it out there for one or several of these shindigs!
Razzle Dazzle is looking freshly groomed! Need a pic of him with Wyatt!

Yep! I brought the Diamond DA20 (two seater) down with my wife by my side. We had lunch, then I ran her back home (it's only 14nm), and I returned for the rest of the day.
We'd LOVE to see you bring the 170 over! I'll keep you posted on what's going on around our neighborhood. Our chapter may be planning a FLY OUT on July 9th to Lee Bottom Flying Field (over in your neck of the woods) for some ice cream. Join us there if we go over!

Yeah, it's ways out here, but you gotta visit! I need to get out to visit you and yours one of these days as well!
Does Wyatt fly with you? We haven't had Wiley up yet, and don't know how he would do. I plan on taking the new pup flying before he gets all grown up, then maybe Wiley will see this and think maybe that's not such a bad idea!

Wyatt has yet to go flying. The stick in the back seat of the Citabria is nonconducive to doggie flight training, but I need to bring someone along in a 172 or Warrior to tend to his needs, should something arise.
I expect he will be fine in the -7. I am planning on building a doggie passenger seat for him. Not sure how I will do it just yet. I need to make it easily convertible to a human seat, obviously enough.

I plan to do the same thing CJ, so let's see if we can put our heads together on this one.
If anyone else has ideas, feel free to chime in!

Jake flies with me all the time in the 172 ... I have tentative plans to take the stick out and let him in the back of the -8. We'll see how it goes .. he has to get used to his mutt muffs first!
Let me know about Lee Bottom ... we have an even better grass rwy ice cream fly in that is closer (20-30 miles E of Indy). I'll let you know when the date is - it is perfect for RVs, the grass is like a pool table.
