We have had some pretty good weekend weather the last few weeks here. With the job, most of my spare time to work on the RV or to fly comes on the weekends. So, lately Ive been having to make the decision to fly, or, to build.

Usually I will make flying the priority above building. What about you? What will do you first?

I did both this weekend.

I got 1.5 in on Saturday in the Champ and 2.3 today in the Worrier doing Young Eagles.

Now I sit cutting stiffenuhs for the fuse.

Time will likely be evenly split between both.

Gimme a third choice and I will vote!

since I haven't had a flight since August I voted build. The sooner I'm done the sooner I might actual get some seat time

Fly in the morning and then come home after lunch and start building. Then take Patti out to dinner.

I opted to build. A friend offered me a flight in his -7 on this perfect, sunny, windless day and I turned it down! I still can't believe I did that. I think that's the first time I have turned down a flight.

I try to do both ... although if the weather is perfect and forecast to be bad for a few days I'll fly knowing I can build when the weather is bad.

There are lots of times when I'm working away in the shop when the weather is nice and I agonize about flying ... usually I head out to the airport and fly!

Had to Build so I can fly later this week!!! I had some cowl pin issues to tend to before the RV-6 is airworthy which took most of the weekend. It was a total re-design drilling out the original system and fabbing up a positive lock hinge pin system held by screws rather than just pin torque.

...Now that means that I was BUILDING instead of flying. HOWEVER, I wasn't building ANYTHING on my RV-7! I was working on the plane I plan to fly latert this week.

How should I count that vote Spike?!?

PS - If the weather's good and the other plane's ready...I'M FLYING! The build will always be there smiling at me from the basement when I get home. I justify it as taking time to "shapen the saw". I need to fly to stay motivated to keep my -7 rolling!

I had about an hours worth of good build time but got in almost 2 hours of hood time shooting ILS approaches at TYS. Add a couple more to the process of getting my instrument rating....

Given that my job allows for taking to the skies during the week, I'd really rather build on the weekends. I do love the time that I ride with my buds for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday, but I gotta keep going on this thing to be a weekend flyer someday!

I stayed in the shop all week end and got what i wanted to get done.

I'm like CJ and like to do both, but I'm more inclined to build all day when the weather sucks, and fly if the weather is nice.

A new job is definately slowing my build time though, but at least it is helping to pay for the panel and prop.

I try to fly to keep current at the place I rent from, but the rest of my aviation time goes toward building activities.
