Northern Lights anyone?

Any of you other midwesterners catch the Northern Lights last night? Here in central IL, I drove out about three miles north of the city, and had a GREAT view! I've never seen these before, and this far south is just about unheard of!

Peter, I'm sure you see them frequently, so I am jealous! Just beautiful!

Something to do with a solar flare last night, is the reasoning I'm hearing the local news reports saying.

From the G450 cold soak test flight last night it was an awsome sight to behold.

When we do the cold soak test flight the aircraft is actually experimental at that time. Complete with a big experimental sticker near the entryway door

Informative article on why we saw what we saw last night. Sounds like it may still be happening tonight!

One of the perks of living in Alaska, if its clear we get to see the northern lights quite often. They've been out every night this week...its crystal clear tonight and -2.........

Hey Chad I missed them! ...didn't know they were kicking up this weekend.

We don't see them much in town as they obscured by the lights from Minneaspolis and St. Paul but we do see them when we're up at the cabin about every 2nd or 3rd trip in the winter. I NEVER get tired of the them!

If this OVC layer clears out I'll watch for them tonight.
