Yup. Several changes have taken place in the last year, and I'm happy with the direction the company is taking now...

Tip up!?!?!?!?! :o

I'm still on the fence on this one too. What made you decide to go with the tip up Chad?

Chadster,

Keeping my mouth shut was killing me... I am glad you have finally fessed up and admitted your sins. Now it's time for the healing to begin. I've taken the liberty of arranging the exorcism with Brother Darwin.

Wait a minute! Are you telling me you were at no time planning on a slider?!?!?!

All right, I think we have an imposter here! Someone has obviously stolen Chad's logon ID

No need...Darwin and I have been talking over the last couple of days. He has expressed his interest in my decision, though he hasn't changed my mind. He said he'll stop giving me a hard time about it... I plan to have dinner with him and go flying in his 7 when I'm in Pheonix in a couple of weeks.

I'm glad you didn't leak anything! I was counting on you!!

As for it being a sin...well maybe. Once a sinner, always a sinner! :bang:

Well, I can't say that. I don't think I ever planned a slider. It was always an option. But, at $100 extra to put a nice bar in my field of view, I'll pass thanks.

Well, the MAIN thing was the change back to a geared redrive. That belt scared me, and we all saw what happened because of it (Tom Moore's airplane).

Secondly, Gary Newsted has gone to work full time as GM of the company. He is a great addition to the staff, and is really making an effort to make positive changes at EAAINC. Jan was doing well, he just needed someone to help shoulder some of the load.

Third, back to the redrive, and the ratio to 2.02:1. This will REALLY get the prop RPM in to the powerband RPM of the E6 engine. Speeds are up, climb is up, and the fuel burn is excellent.

In a nutshell anyway... 8)

And that was my whole initial dislike of the Subaru engine. Sure it has great altitude performance but sea-level performance was lack-luster to put it nicely. It will be interesting to see what sea-level performance is on the new engine. Keep us posted. I'm planning on a Superior engine but if the Egg product performance is getting better then that would be worth a second look. I would LOVE a very smooth running engine.

That is good news - I met Gary in NH and we looked at his RV-9E
http://www.jlc.net/~fcs/Builders_Journal.htm

At the time I was more interested in the airframe but I was impressed with the smoothness of the engine and the cabin heat!!! After looking at the complexity and talking to him (he was a pretty early adopter) I decided that I'd go Lyc on my plane....

But if Chad is going sube, and if the product is getting better, I will revisit that before too long. Great news for the whole community!

BTW - my tanks would have been done this weekend if the garage heater didn't conk out... Hard to work proseal in the 30s...

Another consideration is the ease of access to the avionics & wiring behind the panel.
