Hi all,
As was discussed a while back, there is some interest in flying with a dog. As I have an army of golden retrievers (don't ask), I have always been interested in flying with one of my dogs to a campground, cabin, etc. Attached are some pictures of my first trial at loading/unloading a 75 pound dog. I bought some rubber backed rugs at Walmart. Before beginning, I removed the passenger seat. After the dog is loaded, the seat is re-installed. This will keep the dog in the back where he looks to have plenty of room. Following is a link to some pictures of the process. With a little of practice and patience, he started to get the hang of it. As you will see, he will wear a set of Mutt Muffs to protect his hearing. I would not subject a dog's accute hearing to an airplane with some sort of protection.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Tom - I gotta ask!TomC wrote: I have an army of golden retrievers (don't ask),

What constitutes an army? We have 2 goldens and also live in IA (Cedar Rapids). Do you breed them? The one in the video looks great!
BTW - where do you keep your RV - I'd love to see it sometime?

Dave, My wife shows goldens. We currently have 13. My plane is at CID in one of the corporate hangers. Until recently, four of us shared it. Now that one of the RV-8's is sold, there are only three but hopefully the space will be occupied soon. Anytime you would like to see the plane, just let me know. I would also love to see your project. I miss the building. The nights are pretty boring without a project to work on.RV9inIowa wrote:What constitutes an army?
And John, NO, you have not lost your seat! I am still looking for the cabin/campground with a runway and maybe a lake. When I find it, that's where Benny and I will be.

I'd like to see if my wife can talk to your wife about where to get good quality goldens around here.... Also you are free to come see my project anytime and I'd love to see your plane... I'll PM you with my cell phone number.
