Chad......You change your mind about an engine again?!?!

Chad,
I couldn't help but notice your signature has been changed to add an animated gif of an engine that doesn't appear to be a rotary. In fact, amazingly enough, it looks somewhat like a legitimate air cooled aircraft engine. Care to let us in on what's going on in your head?
I also see that the rotary engine is gone from your builders log!

Can't hide nothin' can I!?
Dude, if I knew what was going on in my own head, trust me, I'd tell ya!
I've seriously lost sleep over the last two weeks or so thinking about FREAKIN' engines!!
The rotary is still an option, I suppose, but I'm afraid of insurance problems with financing and first flight/phase I coverage. Then high premiums after Phase II with the combo rotary and taildragger.
The path of least resistance. That's what I KEEP telling myself. I think building a rotary would be a freakin' blast to do, and I know a lot about them. I've had three RX-7's, and replaced the engine in the second one. BUT, trusting my installation skills in an airplane? Not sure. Do I want to take Brit up in something I'm not even sure about? The answer to that is a definitive NO.
So, that's where I am. I am ordering my finish kit mid November, and at that point, I'll know for sure. I think.
Am I a nut or what!?
As far as the sig goes, I just wanted something new down there, and I like the animation on that flat 4...

This is a sure sign of growth and maturity!
Your animation is even more in keeping with your handle of weathervane....notice the crank goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.....
Sorry, pal that one was almost too easy

THAT was funny!! I laughed enough that Brit had to ask what I was laughing at. I said, "Oh, Jim Pappas. Funny guy."

I'm gonna have to find a way to mock mount my 1200 VW on the FW for a good picture!

Mark my words, Chad will end up with either an O-320 or O-360.
He doesn't know it yet, but I do!
I got a case of Harpoon IPA on this with anyone who wants to wager!

HA!
O-360-TBD!!!
I thought that I drilled it down fairly accurately, but that is PERFECT!
The TBD engine has accommodations for all types of mounts, ignition systems, props and intakes!
It is ideal for those who can't make a decision!

looks like when we get down to it all the what ifs really hinder our desires... and so it goes as many before have gone. good luck either way. i can never do anything without thinking about the return one day i know i'll want. for me there was just toooo many other things to use my bandwidth on to be worrying about engine choices. good luck either way chad.

Well said, Willie Weez!
Just to underscore the way we do business here on RB, we are all friends. Sometimes to the casual observer it may appear that we are flaming people all the time. I assure you, it is all in jest. The humor can sometimes be lost in the text of a message. It can be difficult or impossible sometimes to portray your pun with words.
Chad knows that we are teasing him.
Dontcha Chad!

If we don't rib each other what will we do when we go back to the Otter next year?
At least for all the teasing we give Chad about his many decision changes - aka weathervane- he made one really good choice a very long time ago and stuck with it very wisely.....
Hi Brit!
Good man Chad, miss you guys. (You too CJ)
