Hello everyone, I'm an RV8 builder in England (Near Cheltenham), I'm guessing this is a predominantly US builder site but I figure with nearly 1000 members here its a good place to come and ask lots of questions as I progress along the build!

I have an RV8 QB kit as well as the finishing kit. My empennage is just about complete so I'm wondering what on earth I start on next!!! Seems like a mammoth project now!!

Ask Wicked Stick and 4Kilo for tips on what to do next on the QB kit. They both did slow builds and could be helpful to you!

Good to have you here--good to have another 8 builder! I am doing SB wings and a QB fuse, I hope to have the wings done by the time the fuse comes in March(hopefully).

My fuse was a slow build, so not sure if I can help with a quick build pre-punch fuse though. Still it never hurts to ask about something.

I know how you feel. I started on my RV-7A almost exactly a year ago, and I still feel like a newbie at times. But I have my empennage finished, and my wings (standard build) are nearing completion. I ordered my fuse kit a few days ago, just in time to beat the price increase. Just hang in there, take your time, ask lots of questions, and read a lot online. You'll do just fine. Some of these guys have excellent websites, and you learn a lot by reading and studying pictures. Is there a builders group near you, where you can see things in person, meet some people, and get some hands-on? I can't tell you how valuable that is, too.

I've got the RV7 QB, and I'm doing my unintentional best to keep to a slow-build schedule. First thing you'll probably tackle is the wings. If you're regular about it, they'll be done in no time, and you can knock out a major subkit in short order, much shorter than it takes to do the empennage. Of course, preaching and practice don't often share a cab concerning my project, so I won't presume to give you advice in the time management area. However, one aphorism has stuck with me, and I wish I could remember who said it, because i'd love to credit them, and that is: "Building an airplane is like eating an elephant." One bite at a time.

Welcom Rob! Remember persistance builds airplanes and only peresistance. I have been working on my RV-6A since March 99. I hope to fly it in the next three months. Took the wings and tail to a paint shop today. Persistance!
