I was making Z-brackets for the right wing fuel tank last night, and I realized that I only have nine K1000-3 nutplates left, but 7 brackets with three nutplates apiece :(

Guess I need to go do something else for awhile until I can go to spruce on saturday.

If you have not already, look in all the other bags, there may be more in some other bag kit. I seemed to have plenty with some to spare.

I've since gone through and consolidated all my hardware bags, pretty sure I'm plumb out.

I've wasted a few, I had to remake a whole set of Z-brackets the first time around, plus I used a half dozen -3 nutplates making a 496 mount in my cherokee.

My suggestion:

You can drill out the rivets on your older set of brackets, and recover the nutplates. They're steel, so risk of dammage to them is minimal. Also, serves as good practice for drilling out those rivets (try to do a good job).

The skill will defnitely serve you at some point. It did for me :-)

Why not just order them from ACS online. They will ship and deliver by Friday.

'cause I can pick them up in person saturday. If I'm gonna order some, I'll order them from vans, since they cost half as much.

Ian, you and I are almost at the exact same place. I just finished doing my z-brackets for my right tank, too. I used one nutplate for drilling all the holes, and ruined another one accidentally. When I was finished, I think I have 2 left over to spare.
