RV-ing to Hawaii

Post by captain_john »

Well, the in-laws are over and we are opening gifts. I just have to think about flying. Call me obsessed.

Anyways, if we put a 120 gallon tank into the baggage compartment the RV could make the 2250-ish mile trip from KLAX.

The problem is, it weighs in at 720 lbs. That is only about 6.5 times the max allowable baggage weight. That is to say nothing about being over gross.

So, what to do? Maybe towing a fuel trailer? That'd be a first! hahaha

In flight refueling? Naw

I guess some things are just impossible. It is good to ponder though!

Any ideas other than commercial?

It's all over but the flying! 800+ hours in only 3 years!

Well, let's see,.... 120 gal in aux tank in the back seat, 42 gal in the mains is about 162 gals of good 100 ll at 6 lb /gal is about 972 lbs. Add in the empty weight at about 1050 lbs.comes to about 2022 lbs. plus tha pilot at, say, 180 lbs comes out to be about 2202 lbs. ---hummmmm! you sure you want to do this in an RV!???!

Give the wife tickets for a beautiful vacation in Hawaii while you stay home and clean the toilets?

And he is an "Aussie'.

Love the way he solved the toilet problem. Garden hose and a funnel. Easy!!
