To QB or NOT to QB... that is the ?

Post by captain_john »

Yesterday I visited a fellow builder who is just completing his Emp Kit (as am I) but his next shipment was the QB wings and fuse! I elected slow build. My wings should be here soon, I will post pics when they arrive.

Anywhooooo, while it was nice for my wife to see the fuse and to actually sit in some sheet metal (yes, I am somewhat jealous... it IS only natural) I am REALLY looking forward to my build!

I must say that should I get some spare cabbage this coming year, I may be tempted to order the QB Fuse.

Now, riddle me this... Does Van still allow you to ship back you center section for installation into the QB fuse? My buddy I spoke with yesterday said they wouldn't let him do that. I think it is for 100% QB peeps only? Mebbe?

Unless that is a recent change then your friend is incorrect. Poeboy did that exact same thing about a year and a half ago for his RV6. After deciding that it was taking too long on his wings he shipped the center section back and had fuse made for it.

I also have another friend that did the exact same thing for his RV-8. He is a diligent worker and halfway through his wing build he decided to use the quickbuild fuse. Both of those are recent occurences (within the past 2 years or so).

I say keep the money in your pocket and buy and extra GNS530 or something. Thats alot of dough.
