A box with 180HP in it...

Post by cjensen »

We can put the rumors to bed, kill the suspicions of alternatives, and end all fears that I would never make up my mind. I have an engine! My O-360-A1A showed up at work today...

It's ready to bolt on the airplane as it is, but I always wanted a silver and red engine, so it will be painted before I bring it home. Also have the starter, alternator, mags and harness (of which I am pulling one for a Plasma III), fuel pump, and carb.

It's not a new engine, but rebuilt with a new ECI crank, and all yellow tagged parts and accessories. Lycoming and ECI combo engine.

Phew...I feel better now.

Thanks buddy!

I'll probably hang it sometime in mid August or so. Gotta paint it my colors first! 8)

I didn't buy from a vendor...this is just a regular 'ol Lycoming built by an A&P in Texas. It was going on an RV-9, but the father and son building the 9 were talked out of it, in favor of a 320. It's an engine that fell victim to an unfortunate 7A rollover. Now rebuilt with new and yellow tagged parts. I got a deal on it, couldn't pass it up...

Chad,

Very sweet!

I will be needing mags for the engine I am buying. Send me an email and let me know what you want for that one you won't be using.

Was this the one that has been on Barnstormers for a few weeks?

Thanks,
Brantel (Brian Chesteen),

Will do on Wednesday...you have first dibs...

Yes, it was on Barnstormers. I called the guy the day after it was listed, and basically got a first right on it. I bought it two weeks later...after convincing Brit this was the way to go! 8)

NICE looking engine Chad! Thing is, I am still seeing a latent tendancy toward Subaruism here. First the red engine mount. Now a red Engine. Seems to me Jan's first conversions I saw had red engines too.

Hmmmm......

I predict that sometime between hanging and first start, Chad will find something "better" and this engine will be sold
