Been a while, so I figure y'all are due an update.

Whether you want one or not!

I'm back out in the garage and painting ribs and cutting parts. All it took to get my building juices flowing again was to visit a private grass strip and take a tour of the field. who knew?

I've started tailwheel training. Two hours dual so far. I should have taken my primary training in this plane. sooo much fun.

not a whole lot to show really. I've been priming parts, and cutting and bending stiffener angles.
I have the spar blanks cut and the numbers crunched for the bends. I need to make some test bends to prove my numbers and then I can make the big bends.

When you are not comfortable in a taildragger and you decide it would be best to bring along an instructor while you work out the cobwebs. This is not the outcome you were hoping for:

Yep groundlooped.

PK, you are going to love the experience. It will teach you ALOT!

I am willing to bet the Bearhawk is even more docile than the Citabria. It is larger and longer from vertical axis to rudder.

Here are some progress pictures to chew on.

A couple of center ribs. Some primed, some not

nose ribs all drilled and clecoed to their stiffeners ready to rivet

a collection of aileron nose and pocket ribs. There are also some short ribs for behind the fuel tanks in there.

a bunch of stiffener angles, some bent some not

and finally, all of the wing spar blanks, aileron and flap spar blanks.

To get the pieces to that stage is a lot of work, nice job PK and thanks for the picture updates.

Do you just brake one long angle and cut to length, or brake each one individually?

I tried a little bit of both. But, since my brake and shear in my garage are only 2 ft long; I mostly cut to length then bend.
