Proseal and oil?

My car has been leaking oil at the oil pan where the oil line off the turbo is tapped into it for a while now. I'm thinking of dropping the pan and cleaning/resealing it with the tank sealant that Van's sells (not technically Proseal). Do you guys think it will hold up to the oil and heat? I'm thinking so, but does anyone have any first hand experience in a similar environment?

I am thinking you might have a problem with the upper end of the heat range. I was looking at the specs on real pro seal this morning and if I remember right it is temp limited to the mid 200's.

i think it would be fine. i have used it on all sorts of stuff. in the military we sealed engine parts, gearboxes, and various other things. the last thing i used it on was my GM a/c compressor as they are notorious for leaking. two summers later its still works like a champ. i know it exceeds 200 deg. but why not just a new gasket? IIRC the bolts on most of those tubes only torque to about 97 in. lbs...YMMV

Well, the setup doesn't use a gasket- it's a 90* pipe fitting tapped into an aluminum oil pan at a bit of an angle, so I think the underlying problem is that the pan didn't get threaded cleanly. If it's good for mid 200*F, I think it'll do OK. My oil temps rarely get to 200 on the gauge, so maybe a bit over 200 coming out of the turbo, but the fitting that I want to seal is WAY bigger than the hole in the restrictor feeding the turbo, so I don't think that should be an issue. I guess we'll see in due time
