I am NO April Fool!

Post by captain_john »

Hey all!

It has been a long time coming, but now I can tell you it is all over!

As most of you know, I have been going through this whole divorce thing. It has been a wild ride and worth every penny I have paid for it! It all started last summer. I don't want to digress, so I will cut to the chase.

Here I sit, in a Wifi Cafe after the court hearing and I can now say that I AM DIVORCED!!! I am sooooo happy to be single again. She was absolutely a terrible person and I have no regrets at all. I mean that in the best way possible.

I gave her divorce papers on our 13th anniversary last year and things just got completed today. I got the house (and all the equity therein), the project, hangar, boat, motorcycle, JEEP and then some! She did fine also. It was a good split. I am sure we won't be close friends in the future, but that isn't why you file for divorce now... is it?

I got her out of the house a couple of weeks ago and changed the locks. I am in the midst of settling back in now. The fuse is back home from the airport and the wings will follow suit soon.

I still need to organize the shop because it was my only secure environment at home (she didn't have a key to it, but she wanted one!) and I have all kinds of non-RV stuff in there that need to be sorted through.

On another note, when I got back from my OSH trip last year I went back to teaching and shortly thereafter met a wonderful girl named Karen.

It is remarkable how much we have in common! We have been together most every day since October and are like teenagers again. We walk the dogs, ride the motorcycle, work around the house and yes, go flying together and thoroughly enjoy each others company.

I dare say that I have never really had a female companion before. Anyone who has met my ex-wife (feels good to use that term!) would corroborate that fact. Hell, anyone who knows me knows that she was never around anyways! Maybe that is why we were together for 20 years! hahahaha

Anyhow, I thought I would update everyone on the going-ons in my life. It looks like I WILL ride out to OSH on the bike again this year soooooo I will see you all again soon!

Thermos, Count on me being there all week! I am NOT doing my OSHA Provider update class that week!

When I get internet back in the house again, I will post more regularly. Right now I am a renegade web user.

See you all soon!

Best,

Congratulations on getting your life back in order! Sounds like you are adjusting well. Glad to hear you found a compatible gal.

Sounds like a tough struggle John. It must feel good to get some stability back after the hardships.

Congrats, CJ,

My story is so similar. Married 20 years to an impossible woman. My divorce was over 9 years ago, but I can still remember the day it was final. The peace in my home was SO worth it. The 4 kids stayed with me and I finished raising them, and now I'm halfway finished building the airplane I dreamed about my whole life. Met a sweet, wonderful girl similar to your Karen and married her last summer. Life is GOOD!

Best to you,

Congrats CJ! It must be so nice to get some closure and be able to move on knowing where things stand, and to meet Karen as well will just make the future seem so much better. Now get that shop and internet access going again.

Congrats CJ!! It sounds like you found a great match in Karen. Looking at the picture I'm guessing she's blind...no way you could pull that off otherwise!

Kidding of course. Congratulations again. Now get to the hangar.

Hey All!

I am still mooching a wifi connection. This time at my buddy Geoff's house. Thanks for all the kind words and assorted jocularity!

I am getting back into plane building mode again. This weekend we have some organizing of the shop on the agenda along with Palm Sunday. There is the gym and walking the dogs too sooooo... I will be BIZZY! It is all fun!

Yah, Karen keeps me on the up and up! She is a doll. I have no idea what she sees in me. I guess that isn't mine to question why.

I plan on getting cable internet in a couple of months or so. By then I should be full steam ahead on the project!

I have some summer work lined up at the college. They want me to teach a summer class around the 4th of July. I could really use the loot. It will probably be used for a new Garmin 696. I really like those. Does anyone want to buy my 2/3/496 Airgizmo dock? It is new and uninstalled.

See you all soon!

Congrats CJ!
I guess the other question is, Is she a pilot or interested in becoming one? If so, you have a WINNER!!

Dan, Karen is happy simply being a passenger. She is looking forward to touring the country with me later in life. That is all I really want... a companion.

Kel, I know what you mean. I can't get enough of her either!
