What weekend! Unfortunately, Brit was at a seminar so I didn't get to share this with her, but we got the 7 moved to the airport!! Yesterday we moved the wings to the hangar...

...and today we moved the fuselage to Image Air, where I work. It will spend a night or two there before going to the hangar so the guys at work can give it their blessings...

Starting off, just up on the trailer at home...

...a few shots along the way...

...pulling in to Image Air...

...on to the ramp...

...and in for the night!

Pretty freakin' sweet, but now the house feels like it has a hole in it...

Now you get to look for stuff that you're not sure if it's out at the hangar or back home in the garage. I think I was a little less than a year from my firs flight when I moved to the airport.

Very big Congrats Chad! That is a big move for sure. You have clearly entered that last phase.

I hope the guys at work don't find anything, but if they do, it sure is nice to have the option of having them look things over. Somehow I think they may have heard about this project a time or two and just want to see it because they feel they have something invested in it too :P.

Thanks Don! Yeah, they have been going over it almost rivet-by-rivet this morning...I think you're right!

Looks good. What is the other gate guard aircraft behind the Marine A-4?

Another question.... I noticed on your log site, that the prop spacer mount bolt heads arent safety wired. More work to do?

You know you are good with safety wire if you safety wire them all in one run vs just safety wiring them in pairs.

Good safety wire pliers are the trick.

There are actually three airplanes behind the A-4...an F-14, then an A-7, then an F-4...outside that picture is a T-38, a T-33, a Cobra helicopter and a Huey...

Yeah, the bolts are just snug on the spacer. I didn't want to safety them yet just in case I had reason to take if off when doing the cowl work for something...I'd be REALLY lucky if I could get it done in one wire run! :o 8)

I probably could get it done in one run, especially with the sweet Proto safety wire pliers I got through Grainger at a discount a couple years ago. I would just do them in pairs though unless someone at work challenged me to my safety wire skills.

If you ever have a chance, more gate guard pics would be nice, especially the F-14 Tomcat. I have most of my sheet metal experience modding and overhauling it for the Navy.

53 years ago I helped put an engine back in a T-33 at the NDANG. It is not good to hang upside down from your knees with a hangover! I also was a crew chief on F-94C's and F-89J's there at Fargo, ND.

Is that how the term "hangover" came about?

No the term hangover was in use long before then  I just wasn't smart enough to not drink to much before going to Guard Drill!! :bang:  Now I can get some of that same effect working on my RV-6A without drinking the night before :bang: :bang: Some of the things you have make your body do on an RV are better done by people under 50! In fact my grandsons, who are teenagers can get at some things much easier. :bang:

Chad, you are crankin' right along!

All the places in those pics look familiar to me now, having been there!

Keep up the good work!
