My finish kit is here!!

On Friday, I called the trucking company in my home town about the status of my kit and they said "Oh yeah, it's been here in our warehouse for couple of days now. We should be delivering it by Tuesday next week." Being the impatient person I am, I said "How about if I come get it myself on Saturday?" Then they said "no prob!". So I rented a U-Haul and picked up the kit. They were gracious enough to knock 60 bucks off the delivery price. That payed for the U-Haul truck. Here it is sitting in my garage. It measures 97 inches by 49 inches, and is 27 inches tall. It weighs 337 lbs.

Congrats Smitty! The finish kit was bittersweet for me. I sort of miss inventorying all those kits. Guess I have to build another one after this one is flying.

Thanks Mike! That's funny, I was just thinking yesterday how much I enjoy working on this project. When I finish it, it will be temping to build another.

I hear that! That's why I bought a car project already...can't afford another freakin' airplane, so a car it is! 8)

Nice shhhh-pink cowling there! I got mine before they were pink and haven't touched it yet... soon though!!!

My good friend and fellow RV-9 (no A) builder, Dean Eiland was helping me with the inventory by highlighting the list as I pulled out the parts. I kept on saying "Hey Dean, I ain't found that six thousand dollar part yet!".

When I got to the bottom of the box, I felt like someone who just finished a bowl of really good chili but wants MORE!! Scrape, scrape.

Yeah, I swear the canopy was watching me with evil intent as I walked around. I thought I heard it whisper "Be damned, Be DAMNED!! I was waiting for it to start spinning around, spitting creamed pea soup. {evil laugh here...}

Congrats, Smitty! What a big day that was. I can imagine how it must feel. I'm not too far behind you on my fuselage, so I have mine in mind now, too.
