The hangar I'm building in is no where near as warm as yours so I'm taking a few weeks off!

Of course I am in the same boat as you are being about 30 miles away from you. My garage heater is crankin (also the electric meter is) and I am sanding and filling away on my canopy. Perfect day to build 'cause there's nothin' else to do!

Amen to that. Nothing quite like sipping a warm beverage, bending some aluminum and watching a rip roaring snow storm! Though as you mentioned, I don't even want to consider how fast that 'lectric meter is spinning!

Great day unless your airplane is in the hangar!!! Snowed a good 6" at my house last night.

Has not snowed good here in years and when I move my airplane to the hangar, we get sub freezing for weeks and snow twice.

My luck....I hoped to fly this thing early March but unless this weather gets back to reasonable, that is going to be tough.

Unheatable hangars suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a propane infrared heater that I sit right behind me when trying to work and that helps but it starts to wear on you after a while. Plus $20 for propane every 4-6 hours starts to hurt!

Yipes. I can see where that would get annoying. Though, quit yer whining, you after all are already at the airport, with a plane that you have built, getting ready to make thousands of people look up at you when you cross over them.

That stuff is supposta had reached us up here by now. Nuttin yet...

We have a Christmas party to attend tonight but you can bet that I will be snowed in and tinkering tomorrow!

Nice glad someone else is suffering the snow/cold. We had a bunch of sub zero a few weeks ago. Today it was 40*F....can you say Heat wave.

Brian, something I found that helps for short work sessions. I use a double 300W halogen work light and position the stand near me.

I love that scene Spike...seriously! I know snow storms bring things to a screeching halt, but I agree 100% with ya that there ain't much better than what you described! It'll happen for us sooner or later...'course all I have to work on at home now is my 36" RC RV-7... Probably wouldn't be able to get to the hangar to work on the "real" one!

Today I paid for it by shoveling for 5 hours. And that was only 1/2 of the driveway. I'll let the sun take care of the other half.

One of the Aircraft Mechanic Instructors flew up to MD to see his kids for X-Mass on Friday. It looks like he got there just in the nick of time before they closed all landings of planes.

I blew it all outta the way, Karen has made a kitchen full of food and now I am heading out to the shop to do some fuel & vent line plumbing!

OK CJ, technicall, 3 of the 5 hours were with at a blower. The manual labor was relative to getting he cars out and handing areas where the blower doesn't do so great. That bottom inch can be a real pain too.

Whew!!!

I thought for a bit that you were doing it the old fashioned way!

My back is so screwed up that if the blower doesn't touch it, it stays where mother nature left it!

I don't mess with the detail part of making the driveway black again.

If we get less than 6" I am inclined to leave it where it fell!

They say that this stuff will be around through Christmas for us though!!!

The problem here in MD is that it can never decide if its frozen or thawed. So if you leave the 1" there and don't get it back to black, then it will go through freeze / thaw cycles during the day / night until you have a perfectly beautiful sheet of glass.

Its a good way to kill yerself.

Well, I unnerstand that! We pretty much can do the same thing here too.

I have perfectly level ground between the house and garage so my chance of doing a dixie is minimal.

The problem is with the little Wyatt dog. He has low clearance and can't make it up hamburger hill to draw his mud!

He can only make it out to the back yard and that totally un-trains him from pooping on the lawn come summer! It happens every year. Karen's dog, Zoey (Norwegian Elkhound) is a freakin ATHELETE and can clammer up the iciest hill like a mountain goat! I am hoping that she will break the trail for Wyatt!

BTW, I actually made progress on the plane today with all that was going on! To top it all off, school is canceled for Monday so I have another day to tinker!!!

BTW, I just did my vent lines and will be doing the fuel lines from the tank soon. I will post pics later.
