Didn't get any results on VAF (the thread wasn't about $100,000 panel upgrades  ). Can someone post a picture of the aileron stop for an RV-7(a). Not the delrin, but the one as posted in the plans?

thanks

Bob,

Not sure many people do the plan version these days...I did the delrin. Works great!

Yeah, but I'm tired of ordering stuff and paying shipping charges. At my stage of the build, it seems like all I do is stop what I'm doing, fill another order, and pay more cash.

I've got plenty of angle lying around and all I want to do is make an aileron stop in the cheapest way possible.

Bob, would you be interested in the delrin stops if they showed up in your mailbox for free?

I think I have the material and could whip you up a pair.

Haa,

Yep, the end of the build is horrible on the wallet, shipping charges, etc. I think the majority of the cash requirement is in the last 10% of the build!!!

I bet I spent at least $1000 on shipping charges the last year of my build...

I was waiting for Brian to pop in and say something before I did...take the offer Bob. I did, and they work great! SUPER easy to install too!

Bob,

I built my aileron stops out of nylon spacers purchased from Home Depot. No shipping! I think it was even under $2.00!

Yeah, but I'll pay you back. As soon as I fly off the phase 1 time, I'll bring some beer.

I spent $115 on a stinking 4x4 sheet of aluminum last week just for shipping. Just for shipping!

Today I was attaching the control rods for the right wing and decided to check the rod end bearings just to be sure they were the right ones and they weren't (I'll bet I put the longer ones in the Vertical Stab. ). Need to order two more of those... shipping plus the Van's $4 handling.

Yeah, I'm pounding my head against the wall.

If it makes things any better, Van's doesn't have the $4 handling fee anymore. They haven't for years. I share your pain, Bob. For a while there I was doing multiple ACS orders a week. It does slow down and stop. I only order from ACS about once every 2 months now.

No need to pay me back. I'll be happy to be part of you getting airborne. I'll see if I can get them in the mail tomorrow.

Aileroon Stops

Van's does not require aileroon stops on the RV-6's and somewhere in my mountains of paper work I can find that in writing. :bang: I was agle to rig my airplane so it was not necessary and it is fully areobatic according to mey test pilot! :)

You sure about that Bob? My 6A has them per plans. :dunno:

I did the delrin stops in addition to the one's in the plans. I followed Smitty's instructions on the delrin ones.
I bought a 7/8" dia. delrin rod from ACS, but they ended up shipping me 2 foot long pieces, so I have plenty extra. If anyone needs some material I can send you a 2" chunk. These are cut down to only 3/8" thickness, so that should be plenty.
The hardest part is getting the hole drilled exactly in the center. It took me a couple of tries to get a pair that were acceptable.

Aileroon Stops

Painless, somewhere I have the fact that aileroon stops were "optional" on RV-6's. I have just spent about half an hour attempting to find it but not luck! However, I know when I built the wings and fitted the aileroons I had that in writing. I think it is still somehwere around and it could be at the airport.

Bob, 5 minutes in the shop and your new aileron stops are done, all packaged up and ready to head your direction tomorrow. I haven't checked the range of motion so you'll have to make certain they work on Your plane. Let me know if they aren't the correct diameter and I'll make some new ones. Mine are the same size as are Chad's and others.

[EDIT] this message is for Bob Collins

Sorry it took so long to read this thread Bob. I did the old fashioned stops on my 9. If you want a picture let me know.
