Securing Hinge Pins for Lower Cowl side hinges

For all of you who went the hinge route to attach your lower cowl to the fuselage, how did you secure the vertical hinge pins? I am thinking friction alone should be good enough. It takes pliers to pull them out as it is. Plus, it they work themselves out a little, they don't really have anywhere to go. Any thoughts/input?

Thanks,

IIRC, you installed your horizontal pins from inside...I did the same, and that pin actually creates a "cap" for the vertical hinge when it's in place.

I just bent em over so they intersect the engine mount and I put a wire tie on em to stop em from riding up, They will ride up without something....

I am just using friction on my vertical hinge pins on my RV-6A. I have about 106 hours on it. They will ride up some but not always. I am about to change oil again and will take a look at it then. Safety wire to the engine mount might be a good solution. Another would be a nylon cable tie to the engine mount.
