My A&P neighbor is helping a guy build a STOL KING, Then will be doing a Pitts restoration
Here they working a Reiff heatband installation. They are getting close to first engine start. Hard to get a good picture, but the things is kinda nifty. 0320 powered, T/O roll <50', stalls at 15mph. The builder(tall guy in the pic) doesn't even have a pilot cert yet.

sits a bit taller than my -7. It is level attitude in this pic and the prop is about eye level for a 6'person.

That goes to show what a big wing and engine can do. :)

Chris M did the W & B(1057#), followed by the 1st engine run and finally taxied his STOL king around the ramp for a few minutes. I got there just as he was starting the engine again.

Actually that's Toni, his CFI, who WAS standing next to us. BUT when Chris taxi'd off the tailwheel was reversed when we pushed him back after fueling. He made it down to the corner of the ramp and couldn't get the thing to turn with just the rudder and didn't know to use the brakes and power. So off runs Toni to give him some "ground" instruction.

We commented, you know having a headset and someone on the radio wold be pretty handy right now. Earlier we tried to give them both headsets which they said, "Na, we aren't going anywhere." :bang:

We finally waved him in, I told him congrats and that that thing is not a scooter so minimize the time weaving around the ramp.

Chris is a Salmon fisherman by trade here's link to his website. Excellent salmon.
