engine shake

When I cut the power,as the rpm drops thru 1100-1000 I get a pretty good engine shake. I can feel it and actually see the spinner moving 1/4" or more.

Anyone else?

Also today on my 1st landing my engine quit as I rolled out, I think my idle is set to low. And my landings sucked today. I seemed to be flaring to high and dropping it in and bouncing. The Temp got up to +12*F on the ground(was -18 this a.m.),but was 0*F at 7500'

BUT there is good news: I got up for 1.1hrs, checked my airspeed vs GPS and they are within 1kt at 160kts cruise. I think I'll do some more practice tomorrow.

Engine shake is totally normal for a Lyc. Shakes like a wet dog! Especially with lightweight propellers. The Hartzell, and to some extent, the Sensi's keep the shaking at a less noticeable frequency. Mine shakes too...

Glad you're getting to fly! I'm staring at a month without flying this coming weekend!!! Getting cleared out from the blizzard that rolled thru here yesterday and last night.

Great day here in the Big Sky. launched around noon after the temperature got +8*F. Flew to Three Forks (9S5) to visit a friend who owns Headwaters Flying Service. He is having a prop balancer guy come in soon to balance our props.

Got a call earlier today to meet up with a Hans (RV-6A, flying) in Bozeman(KBZN). So headed over there. Made my best landing yet...thank you very much.

Hans wasn't there yet, but met his hangarmate. Alan E. was building this RV-8A, Hopes to do an engine start in March and fly it this summer. Doing good work and the thing is loaded. IO-360 from Aerosport, WW200RV prop, Full IFR panel, inverted systems Image
Hans' -6A in the back

Also met up with some other Bozeman pilots who own F-86, F-100, BT-13, T-6, T-28 and other cool stuff. The Saber is outside so, I'll taxi over near them next time I'm down there for a photo op. Aurora held her own and was a sparkling beauty in the clear air, Everybody was impressed.

Yep great day to be alive! 15.6hrs of pure fun on the HOBBS

I had the same problem on the RV-4. I installed a Landoll harmonic balancer and that seemed to cure it.
