New RV9A Builder

I have my preview plans in hand, I have bought the majority of my tools. New and used, I thank those for such great deals. My garage, oops my factory is in place.
I want to chronicle the building of it but haven't decided between Kitpro or doing it through my Mac (IWeb).
I have reading so much in preparation to actually buying the Tail Kit. I am not to prime it, just the pieces that need it, weight savings.

Welcome to Rivet Bangers! Enjoy the progress and join in the discussions. A lot of help is available here and a number of us have flying RV's but still participate. I have 2008 RV6-A with 142 hours on it.

Welcome to the journey Kim! There are lots of things to learn, but ask questions and you will be fine, nothing (so far) is really tough to learn, you just have to decide to do it. The rewards of all this is worth it.

Question, If I want to practice riviting? What or where is a good place to get the sheet metal, Lowes, Home Depot?

Lowes or Home depot should have some aluminum that could work. However is there someone else near you who has or is building an airplane made out of aluminum? If so they most likely have some scrap material you can practice on. I guarntee you that after your airplane is built you well have some scrap aluminum

I just went and bought the two practice kits from Vans (toolbox, then
airfoil) and moved right into the tail kit.

Hey Kim, welcome!!
You'll find that the kit comes with some extra material to use for riveting practice, and so on. You'll probably never use most of it. Just jump in and go for it. You're gonna have a blast!

Find a tech counselor to give you a "Riveting101" lesson. Trying to teach yourself may work or you may learn poor skills...no way to start a project. You'll learn more in a hour than a week of practice.
I used Kitlog Pro and had good luck with it, but others didn't like it. YMMV
