Just reached my threshold of stupid statements/questions on the VAF Forum.
I think if I read one more my head will explode!

for me its not so much the questions. Like you im sure, I dont want to see anyone get hurt because they were afraid to ask. In a busy forum like VAF and others, it can be hard for the reader to separate the wheat from the chafe regarding the answers. Often, the "everyones and expert" mentality takes over and one can receive different answers to a simple question. On VAF and Rivetbangers there actually are experts that are happy to help unfortunately the reader must know who they are. Hint: there is no direct relationship between number or length of posts and expertise (thats a general statement not directed at anyone).

tighten up your rivetbangers cap so your head doesn't explode put more time into building and flying and worry less about the keyboard fliers

What I find about the larger forums, is that when someone asks a question, half the people answer "definitely NO" and the other have answer "definietly YES".

An example is the threads on the larger dimple dies for the fuel tanks. Should I use them or should I not use them?

Half of the people swear that they are the way to go. The other half posts charts and graphs and every reason in the world as to why your RV will flip over on it's back on it's first flight and fall from the sky if you use the fuel tank dimple dies!!

So at the end of the day, the entire thread is completely useless because me (and others) are just as confused as before.

Yep, I agree about wide range of responses to a question. It's hard to know what to do with all the "here's how ya' do it"s.

Here's what I noticed though:
1. Sometimes I have an ah-ah moment when someones mentions something I never thought about trying.
2. The arguments that are sparked about a given topic often reveal who's obviously stupid and who's not.
3. Majority usually rules when advice comes. If the majority agree on a specific way to do something, odds are it alright.
4. The trump card - go back to the Holy Book of Van and pray you get it on your on.
5. Sometimes it's just fun to start a fight, like what primer to use. (he-he)

So Smitty, which primer do you recommend? HAHA
