I recently purchased a GoPro Hero3 Silver video camera and mounted it on the RV's tail:

I did a quick test flight the other day and was thrilled by the results!

My only complaint is there is some vibration in my mount, which I already have a plan to fix. I am still working through editing the video. I'll post it when I get it on YouTube.

Spike,

No plans for audio yet. I figure my videos will just have music in the background. Eventually I will figure out the audio piece.

I edited the video last night and posted it on YouTube:

Wow, Mike, that's awesome!! I'm curious how you put the mount on the tail. Did you drill out rivets? Or did you have some provision already in place? Nutplates? I'd like to have a camera like this some day on mine, too.

Bruce,

I made the tip of my vertical stabilizer removable:

I originally did this because I was planning on installing a camera within the tip. However, since the GoPro's are so small, I used the mounting screws used to hold the tip on to secure my GoPro bracket. It's worked out great!

Nice first video.
With the camera mounted to one side, you must notice some rudder trim issues in flight ?

Dave,

I was expecting to see some adverse yaw because of the camera mounted, but so far I've seen NADA! The ball is perfectly centered and the RV flies normally.

That's good to know, I was thinking of mounting it centered in front of the stab, with a wrap around bracket that would screw on from both sides, instead of one, but it looks like it's a non-issue.

Dave,

My original plan was a wrap-around bracket. However, I got 1/2 way done the wrap around bracket, and decided to give it a test. Never needed to finish the other side!
