Interesting FB Quote

Post by leffler »

I just read an interesting quote on FB shared by Michael Stewart (Kahuna).

Never be afraid to try something new.

Remember amateurs built the ark.

Professionals built the Titanic.

I thought it was rather appropriate for the EAB crowd. I'll have to remember to use it the next time some uninformed individual questions the safety of EAB aircraft.

Thats really great. Many times in conversations people would give me cross eyes and mention that they would never fly in an air plane that they or any other 'amateur' built.

Generally I would ask them who the first amateur aircraft builders were who built something in their backyard. Every time I would get a blank stare and a "Hmmm, I dunno response." and every time I would point out to them that it was the Wright Brothers.

The sad thing is that only 50% of the time the light bulb would come on. :bang:

I generally tell people that the only difference between my plane and a "professionally" built plane is that mine is built by someone who has looked at every rivet and screw knowing that I'll fly in it as opposed to being built by the "professional" guy who doesn't care because he knows he will never see the plane again.
