Finally got the courage up to roll the RV! It's hard to believe I like her more than ever!

It is a major rush to do it for the first time as you now know. It is a blast to do it over and over again.

You will find that it takes practice to get it super smooth, stay on heading and altitude. The more you practice, you will find you don't need so much pitch up in the beginning. I had a tendency to pull too soon before I got back upright and this was pulling me off the heading.

Don't be shocked if you feel the aileron stall bump the stick. The first time that happened to me, it scared me....

I still have not worked up the nerve to do a loop....

A friend of mine is a CFII and aerobatic instructor in a RV-7, just south of me in Virginia. I am going to book some time with him ASAP to learn some more aero moves! What a blast this is!

I'm kind of in the same boat. Fortunately, I have an aircraft that isn't rated for aerobatics, so the lack of nerve is never questioned.

In talking with my son over the weekend, who has about ten hours in a T-38, on his second solo is doing rolls, loops, 90 degree bank turns, etc. I guess that is the difference in age. If it were my second solo, I'd probably just be focused on keeping it right side up.

My Brother who flew, P-47's, P-38's in the South Pacific during WWII and P-51's in the MN Air Guard following WWII flew with Van in the RV-6 said the only airplane he ever flew that rolled better than the 6 was a P-38! I had the privilege of having a flight instructor do two rolls in my RV-6A N 784TB. Now I want someone to give me a ride in a P-38 to see if my Brother was right!
