2014 - The Black Otter RivetBangers Dinner

Post by bullojm1 »

AirVentures 2014 is about a month away! We need to drill down on the day that works best for all of us to get together at The Black Otter.

Here's the current lineup for events happening at Oshkosh:

Monday - Beer Fairy
Tuesday - Van's Banquet
Wednesday - Young Eagles Banquet
Thursday - Homebuilder's Banquet, EAA Auction (I'm not 100% sure)

I am planning on flying in on Wednesday, and will be at Osh through either Friday or Saturday. I would prefer Thursday night, but I can totally swing Wednesday also. Also, if you are going to AirVentures and have a car, please let me know how many spots you have free so I can coordinate ground transportation. For those of you who have never been, The Black Otter is located about 40 minutes (25 miles) north of Oshkosh.

The night air show is also Wednesday evening.

I think that will kill the Otter for me this year. :( Since I would have to bum a ride, I'm assuming that there is no way I would get back in time for the night air show. I'm leaving Thursday morning, so that' not an option for me either.

For those that go, eat plenty of beef for me.

Unfortunately this year I will only be there from Saturday to Wednesday morning.

My prime rib capacity has been drastically reduced so if I don't make it to the Otter, please post some pics!

Bob,

I would pick the Otter and hanging out with Rivetbangers over the night airshow any day! Night airshows are way over rated!

I was originally l leaving Wednesday too, but my passenger, a fellow coworker who has never attended OSH, asked to stay another day to see the night airshow.

Are you camping in HBC?

I complete tie between Wednesday and Thursday. Let's get together on Wednesday at the Otter.

Sunset on 7/30 is 8:32pm. I think if we plan an early - say 5-5:30pm arrival at the Otter, we should all be in a proper meat coma by 8pm, and back to Osh by 8:30p. I would imagine the airshow starts at 9pm or later? Is that a reasonable assumption?

Now, the hard part - ground transportation. Does anyone know if there is a place to rent a van for the day?

Been a while since I've logged in here (no time since I retired), but count me in for 2. The Black Otter is my favorite OSH dinner outing!
