Well Spike, I spent all weekend sorking on my baffles and remaking the intake snorkle. Yes, I said RE_MAKE!

It was about 1 inch too wide for my engine so I had to cut it apart and re make the end that holds the filter so it would fit.! I just finished applying the final layer of fiberglass! I'm shure glad the rest of the plane isn't glass!!! The cowl now fits over the baffles and I can see a narrow gap for the fabric seal so it should be good.

I hope to get the seal cut and fitted this week. Then comes the glass job o n the windsscreen. Yea!!

Sorry to hear about the extra work Dan but I have a feeling that once its flying, it will quickly fade away to the back rooms of your memory

I had a pretty sucessful weekend building. I managed to finish my -8 horizontal stab and started work on the verticle stab. Here are some pics. I think it is time to order the wings.

Priming weather, jigs??? Hummm, I am rattle can priming non-alclad and dissimilar mating surfaces. Jigs, haven't seen a need for them yet. Might have to do it for the wings though.

With the rudder almost finished I decided to contact Van's about placing my wing order. The new lead time for the -8 wings is 8 weeks. Ouch, guess I will have some time to get some stuff done around my house. Good thing I am not building a -7, the lead time is 14 weeks for wings.

My -7 wings came fairly quickly when I ordered them around Thanksgiving. Lemme think... around Thanksgiving and they got here the first week in January? No more than 8 weeks on that deal. Actually, faster than I expected! The web page was saying 10-12 as I recall.
Cool beans, Bill! Keep up the good work!

I hear you CJ. I hope they come faster than what is listed. It must have just changed, because -8 wings were 4-6 weeks and are now 8 weeks. The -7 wings are listed at 14 weeks now.
