still evaluating the nylon / glass fiber material. right side elevator gust lock for my 9. this material is smoother than you would expect. so far, I like it. Obsidian by 3DXTECH from Michigan, strong and tough.

a simple phone holder but with custom dimensions. I make these custom easily by using a design table. that way you simply input the key dimensions in a table and part designs itself and also sets the numbers for the back. hit the print button and it's done.

6.0 x 3.0 x 0.5 inch

new to me vacuum oven to dry filaments prior to printing, especially important for nylons. using a 2-stage vacuum pump. hey, that oven could be good for drying dessicant for the engine also, but I haven't needed to in 4 yrs, closed engine drying system.

what's shipping today?

the little seat belt retainers are one of my favorites. there is nothing worse than getting in the aircraft and having to hunt and wrestle with the seat belts. it throws everything off at the beginning of the flight. better to have a place for it and just reach for it. small enough to be able to just throw the belt on, but big enough to retain it well.

sending some RV7 elevator gust locks made using nylon/glass fiber material for evaluation. they are rougher than poly carb material but may have better durability. these are thin web, normally .068 inch but the nylon / glass fiber prints at .072 inch. it must be how the material spreads when it is deposited. hey, I keep trying stuff! it really is just a hobby and play for me.

replaced my right-hand side poly carb elevator gust lock with nylon / glass fiber to get some more operation time on these. now both sides nylon / glass fiber.

Carole's phone stand.... upon request, I made a version with +0.25 inch elongated base. if you are making these at home, they could be good Christmas gifts. these have thick wall and prints perfectly. UV resistant, so they will look good for a very long time.

Carole's phone stand... upon request, I made a +1 inch extended trap to allow for better viewing when standing at a kitchen counter. I am learning people are particular about their phone stands. :) it's only one click to adjust the design.

I may try to add some ridges in the flat to allow for multiple trap positions. not sure if it will work...

not sure if this will work... best I could do with this idea without building steps.

the ridges didn't work very well but I realized with a slight adjustment the full range can be had using the cam. a fun little project.

fwd trap angle range = 32 - 46 degrees
aft trap angle range = 47 - 70 degrees
total angle range = 32 - 70 degrees

extended the fwd trap vertically slightly to compensate for the low angle. I think this wraps it up.

Thanks for the update! The seat belt retainers sound like a great addition. Exciting to hear about the RV7 elevator gust locks with the nylon/glass fiber material. Your experimentation adds a unique touch to the hobby. Keep us posted on how they perform in evaluation!

I recommend NOT to let your wife know you can design and print a phone stand. then she shows her friends and there you go....

hey, that nylon / glass fiber is tough stuff and prints well.

end of the day for me. tomorrow it's going to be 10C, so I am going for a bike ride. :)

installed 5 years ago. I think I have looked at it once since then. ABS plastic mount for the RAMI. If I remember correctly, it weights 58 grams. GPS reception has been perfect. set the antenna offset position in the transponder so it puts the aircraft on center at the nose. If I was doing this over, instead of circular lightening holes, I think I would now make a contoured triangular cutout.

cup holder.... I have always struggled with achieving a perfectly flat surface on the upper viewing side because a print bed becomes damaged overtime and develops small uneven areas. I worked a process to achieve a flat surface on these. I am glad that is done. a small thing, but it was bugging me. working hard to become better every day.

RVPlaticParts donates to Wikipedia (twice this year). like they say.... Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

It's a huge goal but worth taking a risk to pursue.

testing a couple of new tool heads tonight... I like my plastic gear driven tool heads, but they do require maintenance. so, I'm looking at some updated versions. there are a lot of variables to consider with tool heads and that is where rubber meets the road. so, you need to stay on top of it. so far, I would give this one a "B" grade.

I am still amazed how flat and smooth these rudder trim tabs are. .375 inch trailing edge, 10.5 inches long, hollow - light weight. when you need a big trim tab, hollow is not a bad option for an RV. I have made these even bigger upon special request.
