traveled from Cincy to Wichita Jabara airport. low clouds and getting lower, and cool on the way out but found a hole and jumped on top. you have to remember if you lose an engine, you will be going into the soup, so that is a risk. stopped at Lee C Fine airport on the way. installed the stab cam at Jabara after discussing it with them. they had no problems with it and also informed me about their security cams. the airport seemed secure and they treated me very well. I had the lineman plug in the cord at the box with a call the night before. they were happy to do it. I did notice on the departure pre-flight that the oil fill door was unlatched. it could have been the lineman checking the plug light. I have a security lock on the oil dipstick, so I wasn't concerned, as it was intact. 13.5K ft with the wind, prop 2200 rpm, on the way home was very easy on the fuel. a very nice trip.

one thing I noted at Jabara with the new FBO owner, Clemens, is that they have a detailed form you have to sign that has a lot of fine print about not being liable for damage. you also have to initial a box that says your airplane is configured for towing. it was the most rigorous sign-in document I have ever seen. I was OK with it.

Looks like a nice trip. I went over the clouds on our trip to Shreveport but I could see on weather it was clear about 30 miles to the west. I am not confident enough to go over if I cant see clear sky somewhere. I would like to get more instruction on IFR flying. It is cloudy so often here that going through them to sunshine would be nice!

get the IFR rating. prefer to do it hand flying using no GPS and no autopilot, but more difficult to find NDB's now. it will make you a better pilot.
