after six years my suspa canopy gas struts were becoming weak. I believe Mike on this site was the first to recommend these struts many years ago. they last 3X as long as the factory struts and are higher loading. canopy bumpers may be some benefit. to make strut removal easy, remove the spring clip. a 10-minute job total.
