scrap the RV9A - not yet - but in 20 years - yes

Post by A2022 »

when it comes time to stop flying in 20 years, I'll scrap it.

such a nice bird and trouble free but too many Trumpsters from Empire (Y87, the RV7 guy) trying to damage it. reducing the value to scrap metal.

slide up the ravine...

Im not sure I understand your post. Have you been up to Y87? I wondered about that airport. Not much around there!

a guy there willfully damaged my airplane. an RV7 owner. a piece of shit. he is on my radar.

when you begin damaging airplanes, it is time to hang it up because your time is coming.

a guy at our airport had a 9 yr old 8A, glass panel and new everything and really nice build, but wasn't flying much (TT probably less than 300 hrs) and decided to sell. for whatever reason, after listing it, he changed his mind and scrapped it. donated to the EAA museum. that's another way out. probably got a tax write-off, smart. remove all data plates and destroy all the aircraft records.

the trouble with building one of these EAB's is how to safely get rid of it, when (not if) the time comes.

That has always been a concern of mine is the endless liability is presents to the builder.

Is an option to sell it out of the country without dataplates/N-Numbers? Would that work?

that could possibly be a solution if it has good life remaining. cut the price and send it to South America. we should get a list of contacts for that.
