l & d lewis and spike,
I agree completely. The terms “common sense†and “personal responsibility†seem to have been eliminated from our legal processes. Everything is someone else’s fault. I have always told friends that if the auto industry faced the same ludicrous law suites as the aviation community did, the average family car would cost in excess of $200K. In addition there would most likely be only about two or three manufactures left in business.
My pulse rate is below 100 now.

Yeah, Spike had the whole "I will turn over in my grave if you ever sue a manufacturer" chat. Of course, I told him that I would be the one rolling if he dared to sue one of the local racetracks one day when I get plowed over at the 60-foot mark taking launch pictures.

I deal with aviation manufacturers every day, and for the most part they try very hard to make their products as safe as possible. Flying is not a natural thing for us human types so if I elect to strap my butt to an oversize blender and blast it though the atmosphere I need to take some responsibility for what happens. The commercial flying public is generally ignorant of all things flying, and that's where we put most of our effort. With respect to the magazines "Flying Magazine" just got too involved in the high dollar business flying world for my particular taste. EAA's Sport Pilot is good but they shouldn't have split light sport into a separate magazine. I was interested in both and subscribed to both, but there is too much duplication. Plane and Pilot isn't bad, but I think there may be too many publications. There are more and more articles that don't seem to have a point or go anywhere, and the duplication from magazine to magazine is staggering. But there is something for everybody, and I guess that's a good thing..............Larry

UPDATE:
I just got off the horn with Brett and Clay, the Editor and Sales Manager, respectively. They are down to earth, honest aviation enthusiasts!
I told him that we don't drive Bonanzas or Mooneys and just want a nice fast, high tech airplane! He could relate!
