Hey compadres. Another new guy sneaking in, here. I posted a couple of messages as a guest, but figured I should register and make it official. I just ordered my tail kit (RV-7A) yesterday. I don't have any tools, very little workshop space, and no money. (And I've never bucked a single rivet.) But, I decided if I wait for all that, I'll be dead. I think by plunging right in, things will begin to happen that I wouldn't have been able to forsee. You can call it foolishness or faith. Time will tell.

You may want to consider a builders workshop, learn the basics to help you through! Don't know where you live but Tom Emery has them once a month in PA.

Welcome!
I have done the training kit that Van's offers, and I would highly recommend making that purchase to practice on. It's $32, and you can screw up, and not worry about that fact that you have just ruined a skin. I am probably going to do a second one to further tune some riveting skills. This is a super cheap way to learn on something that'll never take to the sky producing lift.
I am finishing my shop, and my tail kit (-7) will be on it's way!
Again, welcome to the group, these guys are great! I've been here for about a month and a half, and have learned a ton!

I'm headed up there in about an hour for the two-day workshop this Sat/Sun (21/22 May 05). I'll let you all know how it turns out.
