Why are wings the next step?

i've been thinking about this a lot lately. why is it that the wings are generally regarded as the next step from the emp? is it more or less a space consideration thing? you build the tail and wings and put 'em away while you build the fuse? is there wiring and control considerations to be dealt with before the fuse arrives?

just wondering if anyone does the fuse before the wings?

I wondered about that too. It kinda makes sense to me. In a car, it is where the rubber meets the road. In a plane, it is where the wind meets the wing.

The wing has less systems and more straightforward metalworking. The fuse is where all attaches too. If all isn't done, there is nothing to attach.

Wings are just NEXT!

Do 'em!

Another consideration is that the wing spars and the fuselage sections of the wing attachment fittings and spar carry-through are a matched set. If Van's sent you the fuselage before the wings, they would have to send the wing spars with the fuselage, which would complicate the shipping. The fuselage parts are no big deal to ship with the wing.

Since Van's has things set up the way they do, you cannot build the fuselage until you have the wing kit, because you will be missing some important fuselage parts without the wing kit.
