who packs the paper into the kit shipments!

I swear that there were at least TWO 100' long sheets of paper in my fuse crate!

Does Van know that this is happening? Honest to GOD... I am no tree hugger but is this really necessary?

Maybe?

Like the anally retentive kit builder that I am, I folded most of it up to cover my work benches with. I was also considering saving the spring steel strapping used to keep the crates bound... but I didn't. I will probably have a need for it tomorrow!

John, Van probably thinks that the cost of a little paper is cheaper for him and less hassle for you if he uses a bunch to pack with rather than taking chances with parts that are pretty fragile. By the way I thought you were getting a slow build fuse. Remember to recycle everyone. :|

Jim,

I "DID" get the SB kit.

Yes, a little extra paper will go a long way in mitigating damages. Nevertheless, I have a dented skin. The left side skin, way down by the tailcone is GOINKED! It oilcans and everything!

Also I have two welds that failed inspection. One is on the tailwheel assembly! I suppose it could be worse. It could be on the nosewheel gear!

  CJ

CJ,
Just call Van's and they will send you a new skin and the new welded parts. You can go ahead with the fuselage construction as the new parts will be there before you need them. Just keep yer head up and pound the rivits! :) Dan, Flew two young eagles Saturday and showed them the circular rainbows. They loved it!

Believe me too! You should have been there last week when I was stuck in the garage with CJ, Thermos and Wicked Stick all at the same time!!! I was going nuts. I wanted to send them all back to school to learn how to pronounce the letter "r"! :)

The good thing about these three New Englanders is that they like good beer!

Take care,

Jim

I am attending the Naval War College here in RI, so we have people from around the world here, not to mention from around the country. Last week a classmate of mine from FL was out with his five year old son. When asked, his son said he left his jacket in the "cah". I thought his dad was going to come unglued! Next thing you know, he is correcting his son on the "proper" use of English. Funny to see.

The worst part of all of those "r"s the New Englanders drop is they end up down here in Texas! As in, "Ah'm a fixin' to change mah oirl afore I drive to Warshington."
