Hey, so has anyone heard of this one?

I snipped it from this thread from www.avsig.com. I mentioned it to Wicked Stick tonight at the Chapter meeting and he hadn't heard word one.

Since Van Nuys is a part of my old stomping grounds I am interested in finding more out about this. I just spent about 15 minutes looking on line for more info but came up with nothing.

Original message was posted on the Matronics RV List by Ed Holyoke when he encountered a problem getting new operating limitations issued. He took the issue to the EAA, and I believe he was going to engage AOPA as well.

I've not seen a copy of the memo, but would like to see exactly what it says.

I don't see how that can hold up. If you want to keep experimental aircraft away from from certain areas, I would think you have to do it within their operating limitations. "Experimental" covers a very large range of aircraft, only a portion of which includes amatuer built. That means that you cant put any warbirds, business aircraft (think arial photography, etc), or developmental aircraft there. I would also think that this would violate the rules for any funds that those airports have received from the FAA.

I would wait and see before getting too riled up about this one. The FSDO does not enact law, only enforces and in some cases interprets it.

Your thoughts?

Especially when the FAA already put out a letter to all it's FSDO's saying that once an experimental had passed it's flight testing then it was to be treated no differently than a certificated aircraft. I'm paraphrasing of course. That was back when experimentals were being cited for overflying densely populated areas.
