Tail numbers

Post by captain_john »

I think everyone here has already reserved a tail number. Mine is stupid simple. The last 2 are my initials and the 357 sounded sequential, but I was just thinking that either 10390 or 10360 would be cool numbers for someone. I was ready to reserve 10390 because I am planning for an IO-390, but it is already taken. So I checked IO-360 just for the fun of it. They are BOTH already reserved by Mooney!

Maybe Mooney is planning on using the IO-390 for an upcoming design?

If any spammer should, it would be them!

How did you arrive at your tail number? Any other ones you have seen or heard of that were interesting?

I hear that the Gulfstream owned by Nike Corp. sports N1KE.

The overseas guy get more letters to play with. Some guy in Britain with a -4 has G-DUDE. I have seen it in pictures.

755-first three digits of my eaa number.

cb-chad & brittne.

72395 was taken (builder number), 75557 was taken (eaa number with the last 5 missing, 71772 was taken (my license plate number on the truck-nothing significant about that). so, i got my forth choice. i really wanted just numbers, but 'twas not to be.

a buddy of mine tried to get N1CE for 'NICE' on his -7. he found out it was already on a v-tail bonanza down in texas (i think). my friend called the guy and asked if he had ever considered selling it. he was told that a guy wanted it for his lancair, and that he had offered him $35,000 for it!! the guy said, "sorry, it's not for sale, and i've been offered more." :o !!

true story.

I've reserved C-FRVP for our "8". I wanted "m" for the last letter, but that one was taken. It would have been perfect since both of our last names start with "M", Marshall and Mcleod.

I have given some little amount of thought to this subject and have come up without. I may just have to be happy with what the FAA decides my tail number should be.

I went through a few reserved numbers, but think I am sticking with 184WM. One -8 for Wiskey Mike. An RV-8 for William Murrish. I tried to get 7718 but it was taken as well. If you are upsidedown it would look like B1LL

Lorin,

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but is this kid any relation, as he is a Canuck-ian?

Thread bypass....

Post by Lorin Dueck »

Jim,

I saw that post when I was visiting dad (Jack) up in Canada just before Christmas.
We're not sure, but it's likely that Tyler is a long lost cousin given that we're related to some of the Duecks in the Abbotsford / Vancouver area.

BTW - I'm Jack's son (not daughter).... :o
It's an easy mistake - if all you see is my name.

Enough said.... Back the the main thread.... Tail numbers...

N3115E is my old Champ, my first plane and first love. So my RV-4 became N311SV. Yes, those are my initials.

OK Sorry, It's all about me. Wait, I'll say that the last name is my wife's! That's her "Fruehling" in the tail number not my "Fruehling"!

Tail Numbers

Post by Rupester »

I'm a new guy on the block, a newbie 9A builder. My tail kit arrived 12/29/05, and I'm well into the HS assembly and having a BALL !!!

But back to tail numbers ... my reserved number is 319TE . 3/19 is our wedding anniversary; T is for my son Tom, E for daughter Erin. Since I need their patience and support in this project I figured I better give 'em bigtime billing.
